Opaque purple. Raspberry, blackberry, rose oil, minerals and Asian spices on the high-pitched nose. Sweet, creamy and surprisingly energetic, with vibrant red fruit, floral pastille and mineral flavors and no rough edges. The floral notes come on strong on the finish, which is exceptionally pure, vibrant and long. Many high-end New World cult pinot noirs offer less energy and clarity than this shiraz.

The single-vineyard 2006 Chianti Rufina Vigneto Bucerchiale exhibits an attractive combination of ripe, generous fruit wedded to a firm sense of structure that should allow the wine to age gracefully for years. Sweet scents of tobacco, earthiness, leather, licorice and spices add complexity on the powerful close. At the moment, the 2006 Vigneto Bucerchiale remains unyielding but full of promise. The wine continued to improve with air.
Frescobaldi Chianti Rufina Castello di Nipozzano Montesodi 1.50L 2004
Frescobaldi is one of the most famous names in Tuscany and can trace its history back to 1092. Today at the cutting edge of the quality revolution in its region, with joint ventures with the likes of the US legend Mondavi, Frescobaldi is one of the most consistant producers in the area. Nipozzano is produced in the Rufina sub district of Chianti, to the east of Florence amongst classic rolling Tuscan hills.
The Riserva mention means that it has been aged for at least 12 months in wood before being released. It is the perfect example of the classicism that is Frescobaldi.
