Backsberg Chinin Blanc 750ML 2007
Showing pear, green apple and cashew aromas, the wine shows ripe fruit on the palate, balanced by a bracing acidity. This is a very versatile wine. The 2007 Chenin Blanc is one of the many which veterans of the Loire would have trouble identifying by grape, but it exhibits lovely fresh apple and floral scents, a subtly sweet nuttiness balanced by insistent lemon citricity on the palate, and a clean, low-key but persistent finish. In short, anyone looking for a glass of Macon or some similarly refreshing variation on the ubiquitous cepage Chardonnay could do well to look to this Chenin Blanc
